Chlorhexidine gluconate and sterile water were used as the positive and negative\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">control respectively.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Results:<\/strong> Data obtained shows a dose dependent zone of inhibition of test bacteria while insignificant or no\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">inhibitory activity was observed for test fungi by both the extract and the fractions. Higher growth inhibitory\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">effect were seen with the polar fractions (butanol and aqueous remainder) compared to the extract at\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">-1\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">concentration of 100 mg mL . Chlorhexidine gluconate exhibited sensitivity for all tested microorganisms.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Conclusion:<\/strong> The study justifies the traditional use of chewing stick, P. kotschyi as an alternative in\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">management of dental infections caused by susceptible organisms.
