The development of appropriate dosage formulation of useful&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">therapeutic value has been a challenge.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Objective: The present study therefore seeks to evaluate oil from Neem seed both in extract form and in&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">ointment formulation against fungal organisms.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Method:<\/b> The oil was extracted from dried seed kernel with n-Hexane, Ethanol and Chloroform respectively at&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">seed weight to solvent ratio 1:10. The extract was evaluated as antifungal using Tricophyton violaceum and&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">Epidermophyton floccosum as test organisms. The extract with highest antifungal activity was invariably&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">formulated into ointment at concentrations 0%w\/w, 2.5%w\/w,5%w\/w, 7.5%w\/w &amp; 10%w\/w respectively&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">using hydrocarbon ointment base .The ointment was evaluated for physical characteristics and tested against&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">Tricophyton violaceum and Epidermophyton floccosumusing Whitfield ointment as reference.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Result:<\/b> The result showed that n-Hexane out of solvents for extraction gave the highest Neem seed oil yield&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">(25.0%w\/w) and zones of inhibition 2.1cm and 1.7cm against Tricophyton violaceum and Epidermophyton&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 19px; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">floccosumrespectively.
